For AE, max out your RAM and processor speed. Hard drive is secondary, graphics card is barely relevant.

You should post on the Premiere forum regarding the hard drive.

It all depends on what is selected. Is the desired layer selected in the timeline?

3D apps like a fancy graphics card, and Apple’s Color and Motion require one. However, AE, as Michael wrote, not so much. As the Dutch guy says, “save your money”.

… or yes, spend it on RAM, a good monitor, or a really good ergonomic chair.

    Scale & Letterbox unchecked.

Like what? Programmable buttons? Maybe a Contour Shuttle might be the thing? Logitech keyboards have programmable keys, and they should work with OS X. Just pick your AE shortcut and program it.

Or can you link us to an example? Maybe this?

Is this what you’re looking for?

    1. Select the center alignment in the text window to center the text on its anchor point.
    2. With the text layer selected, select layer>transform>center in view or press cmd+home (ctrl+home on Win) to move the AP to the middle of the comp.

You wanted it centered in the comp, no?

Thanks Tobi and Walter for mentioning Playback Pro — it looks terrific.

I’ve found that Quicktime has to think, check its BlackBerry and call its mother before it goes back to the first frame of a loop. Accepting that, I’d take a page out of the DVD playbook and make a long QT movie that contains many (say, 10) copies of the clip butted up against each other so the viewer only see the pause once in every, say, 10 sightings of the clip, thus decreasing the odds that a viewer will see the hiccup, since most people will only watch it once or twice.

    … I’m assuming.
