Yes, that is a “lower third”, because it occupies the lower third portion of the screen (often it occupies less space than that).

If this happens when rendering, you can clear the RAM cache every so often by accessing the Scret Prefs. Hold down shift when accessing the prefs from the top menu — don’t release shift until the dialog box comes up. Try setting it to “purge every 5 frames during Make Movie”.

  • I’ve always wanted something like that, but I’ve settled on using the text tool in a comp as well. I think that being able to add a printable text-file-ish object to the Project window, like a new solid, would be useful.

It depends on what kind of job you want. If you want to create motion graphics, a good reel trumps an ACE any day.

    In my opinion. 🙂

[Robert Morris] “anyone else annoyed at AE’s bug where the tangency of the bezier handles break apart for absolutely no reason.”

    Nomenclature:
Smooth point: both handles move simultaneously, opposite each other, creating a smooth curve.
Corner point: both handles move independently, creating a sharp point.

Regarding the smooth or corner nature of a point, the ctrl/cmd button is used to invoke the convert vertex tool (the chevron) to change the handles from whatever state they were in to the other state. So once you change them from smooth to corner (or vice versa), if you want them to stay that way, don’t use the ctrl/cmd key when you drag.

You can’t move both handles of a corner point simultaneously, by the way.

… but be aware that your “straight alpha” image might look a little ugly until it is imported into the app that will use it. Worry not: once imported into the app it will be fine.

    Yes, many apps prefer “straight”.
