… just make sure you buy one in a format that Photoshop CS4 can import, if you go that route. Todd’s link lists formats.

Google SketchUp might also do the job… or it might not.
I like Cinema 4D, which is very user-friendly in many ways, but may be too much for your needs at this time. They should have a demo …Todd’s right, AE is great for compositing the rendered images (or movies) of your spaceship over backgrounds, or with zoomy light streaks or whatever.

There are a lot of resources on the web. Here’s one: https://www.crccheck.com/blog/2008/03/uncompressed-quicktime-plz/
Tip: when comparing two nearly-identical videos, drop one over the other in a comp, and set the transfer mode of the top one to Difference. If they are identical, you will see pure black, and when you move your mouse over the comp, there will be no activity in the info window: RGB values will all be 0,0,0.
The higher the values, the greater the difference between the two videos.

There should be a recent thread on uprezzing on this forum.
When I did a cinema spot for the UK, they just needed standard def PAL, and we were prepared for it to look pretty bad, but when we tested it in a theatre, it looked much better than we thought. It didn’t look like film, but it didn’t look like crap. Of course, there was a lot of distracting action in the spot. Your mileage may vary.

Yes. The process is called rotoscoping. Look for tutorials on the web.

Your clip reads “This is a private video. If you have been sent this video, please make sure you accept the sender’s friend request.”
… I’m not interested in friend requests, so I can’t see the video. Can you make it so we can see this?

My bad.
You’re right, Kevin — my suggestion works if you don’t separate fields on import and leave them alone, so they appear interlaced in the comp window. If you separate fields, then both are available to you.

Yes. The expressions and effects (on the web) were often created assuming that you actually wanted to draw the spirograph pattern, not just animate circles and ellipses.

Find out what the network engineers want from you. Format, field order (if they want interlaced) … whatever specs you can get. Ask tech people, not marketing people.
Yes, alt-doubleclicking and stepping is the way to determine if AE has correctly interpreted the file. If you step through and it moves forward normally, then you have correctly interpreted the file. Yours is Upper Field First.
However, if you render that movie Lower field first, it will jerk back and forth. Yes, this is wrong.
But if you really need to change field order, here’s how you do it: slide the movie’s y-position up or down 1 pixel. That’s it. The add your graphics and Render with fields: lower field first if that’s what the broadcast engineers want.
