You could contact the Aurora people to see why it crashes, or try this Zaxwerks product:

    (I haven’t tried it)

There’s more to file size than just frame size. The original files had a bigger frame size, but they were more compressed than the downconverts, I’d wager, since the Lossless module uses the Animation codec, a high-quality intermediate codec. H.264 is a more lossy delivery codec that gives smaller file sizes at the loss of some quality. In other words, you went from large-frame low-quality to small-frame high-quality.

You can try lowering the quality of the Animation codec (in “options” in the Output Module) or try the PNG movie codec or Photo-JPEG instead of Animation.

    That’s weird.

What did you change to make them work, for our loyal readers?

On the LaCie firewire front, if you have a single drive (short case) and it fails, you can usually mount it in a new FW enclosure and be up and running again. However, if you have a double drive (long case) and it fails, you’re hosed.

Got a screengrab of a timeline?

Is there a 2D layer in there somewhere?

    Yeah. Lose the ball.

Animate the opacity of the overlaid text elements by character, with no smoothness, square, opacity at 0. I like to keyframe the Offset. Make the first key a hold, and the rest will follow. Keyframe according to what you see on the waveform (LL shortcut), then listen and tweak the key positions in time. Saving as a preset, or checking AE’s presets, should speed it up a bit.

Given that syllables aren’t always marked by detectable changes in amplitude, it’s folly to look for an automated solution. Ya gotta slog.

(Hey Dave, can you ‘shop a feather boa over your profile pic?)

Aaron, can the bozos in the design department make multiple PDFs, one for each desired layer? Make ’em work for their dollar.

    Yes.

… and using “separate dimensions” for the ball’s position property might make it easier. Or it might not.

I think the OP means “3D matchmoving apps”, not planar trackers.

Syntheyes is available for Mac now.
