No Audio Whatsoever In My Final Render
I’ve been banging my head against the table over this for the better part of a day.
I’m working in CS4 on a MacBook Pro, OSX.5.8. I have a lovely handful of AIFF files. They play in Quicktime. They play in Final Cut. They play in After Effects in RAM preview. But they don’t render out of AE in my final Quicktime. Audio output’s enabled in the output module, and they’re not muted in the sequence. They’re all identical (settings-wise) at 16bit/stereo/48.000 Khz.
I’ve tried just rendering the audio. I’ve tried pre-rendering. I’ve tried everything except sacrifice to Ba’al.
Anyone have any thoughts on what might be behind this? Because at this point I haven’t a clue.

Nope, it’s enabled, has a custom template and everything.
It looks like the problem was with the audio files – even though they’re playing in RAM preview, I expanded them in the comp and saw that there were no waveforms. I have no idea what THAT was about, but I converted the files and now they’re fine. Go figure.

What did you change to make them work, for our loyal readers?

I wish I knew. I send the audio into Amadeus and did a straight export as AIFFs (though at 41KHZ rather than 48), and that seemed to do the trick. Though I have no idea why – there’s no reason why After Effects should have trouble with 48. And like I said, the original clips played just fine in RAM preview. So…weird. But solved, at least.
