There are a lot of thermal sensors (motherboard, hard drives) that will shut down the os immediately with too much heat.

You could fire up applications:utilities:activity monitor and see what’s using ram when you crash.

The Librarian of Congress, under the Digitial Millenium Copyright Act, declares exemptions every 3 years. Here is the exemption for taking information from copy protected DVDs:

“(1) Motion pictures on DVDs that are lawfully made and acquired and that are protected by the Content Scrambling System when circumvention is accomplished solely in order to accomplish the incorporation of short portions of motion pictures into new works for the purpose of criticism or comment, and where the person engaging in circumvention believes and has reasonable grounds for believing that circumvention is necessary to fulfill the purpose of the use in the following instances:

(i) Educational uses by college and university professors and by college and university film and media studies students;
(ii) Documentary filmmaking;
(iii) Noncommercial videos.”

I would try this:

Start a new project to avoid confusion. Import all your original video master clips that you used for cutting. Bring in all the sound that you want to sync.

Get Pluraleyes. https://www.singularsoftware.com/pluraleyes.html There’s a 30 day demo.

Either using pluraleyes, or syncing manually, create a sequence for each clip where the original video and the new audio are in sync for each master clip. You can probably delete the original camera audio once you are sure you are in sync.

Chop the new audio so it is the same length as the video master clip. Match frame the audio and cut is an audio subclip back to the timeline, then make a merged clip (if you don’t subclip, your merged clip will take the longer length of the new audio master clip, instead of the length of the video master clip). Export a quicktime of this merged clip to a new folder.

Once you have everything in sync, and you have new master clips exported that have the same length as your original video master clips, and you have retained your timecode and reel info, you can reconnect your cut sequence to these new master clips composed of original video and non-camera audio.

If you have FCP 7, you can export markers as text. Then you can modify this text to the proper format (in excel, for example) and import the markers into DVD studio pro.

So even if your markers didn’t export the first time, you can get them to DVD Studio Pro with “import marker list”.

You can indicate whether you have used frames more than once with “show duplicate frames” in timeline options.

Note that this only works if the clip has reel number and timecode. A colored line will show at the bottom of the clip in the timeline to indicate frames that are used more than once.

control-v works on the tracks that have auto select enabled. Check your tracks (probably V1, A1, A2) and see that the auto select is enabled. This is the icon on the far right of the grey areas to the left of the tracks.

In an hour, 24 frames times 60 secs times 60 minutes = 86,400 and
23.976 frames times 60 secs times 60 minutes = 86,313.6

The difference is 86.4 fewer frames in an hour at 23.976 rate. 86.4 / 86,400 = x / 100 to express as a percentage. Solving for x, x = (86.4/86,400) * 100 = .001 * 100 = .1 percent.
