I have a G5 dual processor Mac and just upgraded to Leopard 10.5.8 and driver software for AJA Io 3.1. I can play and digitize manually from the machine, but when I’m in the digitizer, Final Cut (6.0.6) can’t operate the Beta SP Machine. I can import footage just fine if I hit play on the machine. I’ve trashed prefs and re-installed the latest AJA Io software, but I can’t Play or Stop the UVW-1800 from the keyboard as usual. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Which device control setting are you using?

In Audio/Video settings I have it set AJA Io RS-422 NTSC. I get a message that say “warning=port needs to be set”.

In the Capture/Presets menu I have it set at AJA Io: SMPTE/N10 8bit NTSC 48K

I also get a message “Unable to initialize video deck. You may still be able to log offline or use Capture Now”.

I have pulled and re-seated my RS-422 cable going from the AJA to the deck as well.

2 things. Your deck may be in local, it should be in remote. And your capture preset should be for Betacam, not SMPTE/N10. Beta decks have different levels than SMPTE/N10.

Nothing has worked so far. Any other possibilities? I’ve tried using the AJA control panel as well.
