Thanks Rafael you are a life saver! I can feel a weight lifting off my shoulders…

We are running Quicktime 10 here which has none of the features of Pro but I’m sure it won’t take me long to get Pro up and running and get this sorted out.

    Many thanks!

OK I’ve just discovered something else – it works fine as long as I don’t have a deck connected or turned on, but as soon as I turn it on that’s when the trouble begins ie the ‘Please wait while Windows configures Xpress Pro’ appears.

So I can work just fine, as long as I don’t want to digitise or export anything :o/

I do go online from time to time from my Avid, but I never have it connected to the Internet while Avid is running. I don’t have AVG running constantly, but I do go online to update it, and run full system scans a couple of times a week.

Also I don’t use automatic updates, and I checked and the last time I updated was 10th September. I’ve used my Avid many times since then and there have been no problems at all until today.

An uninstall/reinstall really isn’t an attractive option but in the worst case scenario I guess that’s what I’ll have to do.

I’ll hold out for a day or two in case anyone knows anything about this AvidXpressPro.msi file first.

Just to let people know, I finally managed to find the solution to this problem. I had had my right hand monitor set as my primary monitor, but apparently xp doesn’t like this, and this was what caused the weird snapping to occur. I changed my settings so as the left monitor is now my primary monitor and Bingo! Everything is now working as it should.

    Bloody computers

Interesting – this could be the cause of a problem I’ve been having. How do I go about downloading the Avid approved Nvidia driver?

    Hi there,

no I haven’t got it sorted, and I’m VERY glad to hear of someone else having the same problem! Gives me some comfort at least in some weird way.

I have deleted the MC State files and this made no difference. The only thing I can think it might be is my graphics card. I am using an NVIDIA GeForce card, although I noticed on avid’s site it suggests using NVIDIA Quaddro, so I don’t kow if this would cause it? Could it be possible that my graphics card is too good? What graphics card are you using?

Oh Yeah, there’s one there as well. I’ll just go and delete both of these then will I?

Meant to say in my last post, my computer OS, RAM etc is all fine for running Avid, and I have a good graphics card

There is no MCState file in the directory you specified, but I found one in

    Programme files/Avid/AvidProjects/AvidUsers/Steven

(Steven being my user setting I’ve created)

Is it safe then to delete this MCState file?

Yes I have tried save settings, but when I close the project and come back in again, it is all back to where it was. It’s strange, because I’ve customised the keyboard and it is holding my customised keyboard settings, but it is just this issue with the windows.

So has no-one come across this before, where the windows won’t stay where you put them? It really is driving me mad now…
