I just made a Disc Image and put the old PRIVATE folder from my hmc150 in it. fcpx 10.1.3 then recognized and imported the footage.

I’ve run 5 hd streams on a 2.66 imac with 4 gigs of Ram by sending all the pro res files to separate drives. I use one firewire 800 and 4 usb 2 drives. I also lower my playback quality and frame rate.

Thanks for suggesting clipwrap. I bought it a few weeks ago. Wrapping works and I can transcode to prores for 1080p 30. Now I can easily use the Z5u with the ex1 in multicam.

To log and transfer m2t without plugging the camera back in you need to store the files in a folder labeled video > HVR > all the files that were in the HVR folder on your card including your m2t.
Maybe you don’t need all the files from the HVR folder but I haven’t tried this without them all yet.
When you go to log and transfer select the video folder not the HVR folder.

I used mpeg streamclip to go directly from mrc1 to prores but it took about twice real time. I capture from hdv tape to prores in real time. I’m kinda bummed.

I was able to transcode from mrc1 to prores using mpeg streamclip in a 30 second test.
