  • Problem editing 9 full hd cams in multicam

I have fcp 7 and a Mac Pro with 2×2.66 Ghz Dual-Core Intel Xeon Processor 5gb of ram and NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT of 256 MB
when i begin to edit my 9 full hd multicam it can do it just play like 3 seconds then stops.
First I tried in APR422 (HQ) then i tried APR422(Proxy) and did not work.
Multicam run fine with 6 cams but whit 7 or more not. I suppose this can be fixed with an hardware upgrade but I dont Know what I should upgrade…ram, video card or what?
I will be thanfull for any suggestion.

What effects multiple stream playback is HARD DRIVE SPEED. This will not work with firewire drives. You might get this many proxies to play back with eSATA…but for full res, you need SAS or Fibrechannel or Thunderbolt. VERY fast drives. Playing back multiple video files after all.

Thanks Shane… I will see if I can get one of those disks but i think not because I am running low budget, for now I begin editing with proxis 6 cams at a time then 3 then mixed best scenes and when all gets ready I will make it with APR 422 HQ.
    Thanks again!

I finally find a way!!! i try different optios because i didn’t have the budget to buy new hard drives like thunderbolts… so I make differents trys the one that work was to make a sequence with all the cams(already sync) one after other then exported as Proxy in just one long archive, then take it back and cut each camara and each song then sync then the new multiclip run the cams flowly, I also put the proxy archive(like 200 g) alone in a 1T hard drive!

I’ve run 5 hd streams on a 2.66 imac with 4 gigs of Ram by sending all the pro res files to separate drives. I use one firewire 800 and 4 usb 2 drives. I also lower my playback quality and frame rate.
