  • well having reviewed the footage, I will let the guy off – I think I or someone else accidentally spilt a bit of liquid / drink on the camera – I do remember some liquid around the lens cannon.

    So just some water damage.

Also, whats best for cleaning the lens on the ex3 and are there lens covers I could use? I do a fair amount of nightclub videography, so hopefully something out their that wont reduce the light sensitivity.

  • Thanks but need uk repair places. I guess around the £300-£400 to repair going buy your contact.

  • Yes – or there may have been some spilt drink that got in (happened in nightclub).

Essentially, when the phantom power is switched on on input 1, there’s nothing but static / white noise. Everything else still works ok.

    sounds so simple – thankyou!

When selling .mp4 versions – which one would you recommend – 25p or 23.98p?

If someone in The USA bought a 25p PAL .mp4, could they burn a DVD NTSC ?

If selling a 23.98 .mp4, could someone in The UK burn a PAL DVD from it?

Obviously they all play .mp4 regardless of framerate etc.. and 24p is usually converted on the fly by the TV / web streamers like PS3, Apple TV etc… if the TV cant handle it

    How did your showreel go?
Im just about to start mine,

Looks like the best way is to make quicktime masters (apple pro res) and just import those (and use media manager to delete clips from projects you know you wont use – keep some extra stuff that you didnt use).

bit of a nightmare… but as with most edits, the worst part is starting it and having that ‘wtf am I going to do with all this footage?’!

Do these types of filters affect shooting in low light – ie bars / clubs (weddings / nightclubs etc)?
Thanks! will invest in some filters and wipes.

‘AVCHD 2.0 codec with the 28 Mbps PS mode’

Hmm i wonder with this new codec whether a new nx5 will be announced at NAB mid april (with autumn release).

I would still say the nx5 is a upgrade from the Z1, but yes, the nx5 isnt 100% with image sharpness ( my major concern as well as the ubiquitous rolling shutter under strobe / fast flashes)

  • thanks ,

200kbps / 64kbps aac was the lowest ive tried and it came out really blocky

400kbps is pretty decent – blocky during cross dissolves, fast movement but ok.

My client is on a tight data allowance – but 100mb for a 40-60min video file is pushing it somewhat!
