Apple had a New Features window earlier today that didn’t mention DVD Studio Pro, it didn’t even display the icon. It must have been a mistake. Weird.

No, not true. Most of the time I’m clearly getting the result of plug-ins applied. It just isn’t totally consistent.

Speed altered clips can be the most difficult and buggy part of an online.
I am often forced to manually re-capture off speed clips when re-conforming to tape. One trick that makes this a little easier, is to make a reference movie of the original offline edit, with the Timecode reader plug-in added to every clip in the sequence. Then I can tell what my ins and outs should be for capturing tape, and if my speed settings equal the space I need to fill.

How does one get the Mercury Jones AE preset? I found a link, but it was broken.

My latest piece is about 60 minutes, it appears to fail while halfway done. The previous one was 20 minutes and failed earlier.
Intel 8 core 3.0Ghz, 6 Gig of RAM, OSX 10.5.5, QT 7.5.5, FCP 6.0.5, Kona3 (v6 software)

I did triple check my Capture settings and I tried another PAL tape which worked just fine. I know that there is no official 25 frame pulldown. I have reason to believe that there is something going on with the Ukon that might be creating just that (that it is a better target to go from 29.97 to 24.98 than a proper 25). It did look really great.
