I looked at FCP as well because I really want to get back to mac. A friend of mine swears by FCP. I am on PC and I have been for years now. The only issue I saw was cutting between different resolutions including HD and film in multicam, I have heard the Avid is it… No compressing. I have a steady gig with deadlines and I just want to be able to kick it out. Again thanks for the post, it is invaluable talking to current cutters.

I appreciate the insights, this is really my first tenantive step at homework. I am going to purchase nect year so I can get the tax write off. Reading up on the evolution of things it is like the twilight zone. FCP really seems to be taking Apple in a new direction. Avid always meant Mac to me but PC may be just be the way to go… Turnkey setups are my next area of research. I got some meditation to do…
    Thanks Again!

Good to know, thanks for the insight and doing the heavy lifting on this. With all of the hardware issues I have had lately I don’t think my tolerence can handle software conflicts. Hopefully Adobe will get something out soon so this battle will be won.

Yes my friend, time will tell… I suppose that all in all there really can’t be a question that once everything clicks including the inevitable Adobe Upgrades that Vista will be the way to go. I just want someone else to kick the tires and be the guinea pig until I know I wont blow any deadlines meddling around trying to get the sucker to fly right.

This is a good discussion, I am about to be getting some new hardware and I am really wondering which way to go OS wise. I do not want to fighting all kinds of new little compatibility battles but I don’t want to end up losing possible advantages either. Allot of people I know just automatically take every new configuration, I hope this chat takes off.

You could try exporting the audio and then normalizing the whole clip, that and a little tweaking can work in a hurry.
