  • Setting all the audio levels in one swoop?

Posted by Mike Schmitt on November 18, 2006 at 9:59 pm

    Hi there:

Just finished an 8 minute short with almost 300 shots. There are places where the audio spikes.

I’ve got to get this in the mail by 5:00 today, but I’m giving the forum a try!

In After Effects, you can set the color to Broadcast standards. Is there a way to set the audio to be acceptable in one operation?

WIth so many cuts I don’t have time to do it.

Hope I’m being clear. I’m a little tired.

What I want to do is apply a filter to the whole project that will act as a band compressor….

Maybe if I export the audio, run it through Audition with a compressor set for Film, then reimport it into the timeline… Or is there an easier way?

    Thanks

You could try exporting the audio and then normalizing the whole clip, that and a little tweaking can work in a hurry.

Are you familiar with compression ?

    Use the audio Dynamics plugin.

You could do a quick and dirty job using only the limiter setting (will keep your audio from peaking), but it works best in combination with the compressor setting. The limiter will be much rougher on audio variation when used alone.
Let me know if you need help with the settings.
