November 28, 2006 at 4:39 pmI don’t plan on using Vista on any editing machine unless required by the software apps.

November 28, 2006 at 9:11 pmThis is a good discussion, I am about to be getting some new hardware and I am really wondering which way to go OS wise. I do not want to fighting all kinds of new little compatibility battles but I don’t want to end up losing possible advantages either. Allot of people I know just automatically take every new configuration, I hope this chat takes off.

November 29, 2006 at 7:58 amHmm… Thinking ahead, I like.
Well, there’ll definitely be a lot of advantages, the new DX10 graphics for one. Plus (supposedly) much better built in security. And there could also possibly new bugs that will arise between PP2.0 and Vista, but I’m sure Adobe will iron these out. Also the new GUI will put a much bigger strain on system resources…
Time will tell

December 1, 2006 at 7:09 pmYes my friend, time will tell… I suppose that all in all there really can’t be a question that once everything clicks including the inevitable Adobe Upgrades that Vista will be the way to go. I just want someone else to kick the tires and be the guinea pig until I know I wont blow any deadlines meddling around trying to get the sucker to fly right.

December 9, 2006 at 9:32 pmI have installed PP 2.0 on a Vista machine and its a no go for me.
The installer installs just fine, however after activation the app fails to launch.
It gets to the splash screen, and starts the process then fails without warning or error message.
I guess we will have to wait for an update from Adobe. -

December 10, 2006 at 7:56 pmGood to know, thanks for the insight and doing the heavy lifting on this. With all of the hardware issues I have had lately I don’t think my tolerence can handle software conflicts. Hopefully Adobe will get something out soon so this battle will be won.

December 12, 2006 at 3:32 amYour welcome Ginsu, and just to qualify this, I have an official (silver) release DVD from Microsoft of Vista Ultimate as part of a deal we have worked out with MS, this is the real deal and not a beta so at least we can eliminate that from the loop. It appears that Adobe will need to update some code to make us Vista ready.
P.S. Vista is solid, I am really enjoying it on this particular machine.
