I am just getting rid of extra unused elements that are adding size to the project. They are not in use in this latest project but are elements used to build old sequences etc. Just trying to keep it lean and mean.

    Thank You for your input!

I was hoping there was a function but I will do just that. Heres to convoluted projects…. At least it is (another) beautiful day in Florida…..

I just wanted to let you know that I use a My Book Pro 500 GB drive and it has outlasted 2 Seagate Esata Drives. It is not as sexy as other options and somewhere a tech junkie is seeking counseling because someone may still be using a slower interface than SCSI or ESATA but I have cut 50 weekly shows or so using this drive for my raw video footage. This drive has paid for itself many times over and though to some it may seem pedestrian I have never once had to call their tech support in the badlands of India and work to escalate the problem so I can be transferred back to America to get a resolution. Again there are many many choices out there that may seem more seductive and to a degree they are but there are also pitfalls with quality, compatibility, included 3rd party bundled cards, and even the vaunted tier 3 support. This is the reason while my My Book Pro is still on the front lines.

  • I have a year or so and then after that fees start eating into it, so I have time. At this moment I am contemplating my next set up but for the time being I have to get more milage out of my existing axe. I just need to do as you have confirmed that I should do, triage this set up and the next one and check specials, I suppose I can also use it as a king of insurance as well in case I need something new for a specific project. The hard part for me with hardware is it always pays to wait, buy something now and have it obsolete before Christmas… it takes all of the fun out of impulse buying. Balancing recklessness and caution all while meeting deadlines, who said editing was not an adventure….

    Thank You for your input!

  • I am genuinely excited about the potential for this release. I look forward to hearing and reading more, it is just hard to wait. My current system is in a holding pattern until the answers are known…..

    Thank You for your input!

  • It can be fun to hold things close to the vest and know the answer when others do not. My belief is that it must have been addressed with this new version. I was hoping they would have some overwritten explanation of the fix on their site so it did not sound like a fix.

Something like “Improved XRTMV Architecture – that is vastly more efficient at tackling large projects with many different media types… Like your Grandmammy’s weddin’..” Will you get the drift. That way we’d know they addressed it and it would not be an admission of any bugs on their part. Time will tell, I really want to upgrade but I also really want to know if this has been dealt with.

    Thank You for your input!

Did they fix the memory issues…. The toolset seems nice but what happens if your project is 100Mb? I hope that they took this and other bugs into account and fixed them. Someone has got to know….

I defrag weekly and keep my media drives ideally 50% or less, sometimes this is impossible though. With my latest project I hit in the neighborhood of 80% on one drive. Maybe that was it. It was a one time deal so maybe the drives were lagging like you said. I do appreciate the help and insight.

It was a master sequence I titled and then rendered everything, a little while later everything not covered by a title asked for rendering. I rebooted and that did not help the first time so I ended up rendering everything and running a master, with it in the can I deleted all render files and it was solid red on every frame. I then worked on changing some title slates on another project and I shut down yet again and when it came up it was alright, I just had to rerender the titles so I could burn a DVD. Quirky stuff, huh? I was just wondering of it was a setting, the titles are all elements that I use weekly, nothing new or imported. Maybe the computer and Adobe wanted to disagree for a little while……
