  • Did Adobe address the project size issue with Premiere Pro CS3?

I have been on a month vacation and now I see there is a new Pro coming out… Anyone know if it tackles projects over 40 MB without having issues? Someone must have inside info (beta testing etc…), mum can’t be the word once they announced the update…. Do spill the beans please. Thanks…..

Apparently not. They make no mention of having addressed that issue, nor did they mention it was now a 64-bit app, which would have solved the memory-related problems of large projects. Too bad. Evidently doc makers with thousands of clips, etc. in the bins are still SOL.

We won’t know that until we see the release fixes. They obviously wouldn’t announce the fix of a flaw from a previous version as part of new features.

And on a side note, there will be a beta version release before the official one, it will be a great time to bring it up if it’s still there. Someone did mention of that issue going away on a 64 bit systems since you are able to use more than 2 Gigs of ram.

There is a page I saw yesterday at adobe.com that said that premiere could address up to 3gb of ram on a 64bit system.

Just because there is an announcement does not mean that the beta testers have been released from their Non Disclosure Agreement.

It can be fun to hold things close to the vest and know the answer when others do not. My belief is that it must have been addressed with this new version. I was hoping they would have some overwritten explanation of the fix on their site so it did not sound like a fix.

Something like “Improved XRTMV Architecture – that is vastly more efficient at tackling large projects with many different media types… Like your Grandmammy’s weddin’..” Will you get the drift. That way we’d know they addressed it and it would not be an admission of any bugs on their part. Time will tell, I really want to upgrade but I also really want to know if this has been dealt with.

Actually, I have done beta testing for a few different products and holding back info is terribly annoying at times. It would be easier to answer, but you don’t want to be blackballed from further testing.

Since there was some work done on multiple panes for the project panel, perhaps they might have fixed any memory leaks that might have shown up during the testing of that feature. We can hope.

I am genuinely excited about the potential for this release. I look forward to hearing and reading more, it is just hard to wait. My current system is in a holding pattern until the answers are known…..
