  • Shortcut to Finding duplicate clips…

Posted by Steve Mac kenzie on April 4, 2007 at 12:59 am

I have a project that has had other projects copied into it and there are some duplicate clips that need to be deleted. What is the shortcut to see them so I can most efficiently get rid of them with out having to go clip by clip….? I just need to tame this beast and quickly.

    Thank You for your input!

There is no way to do that.

Oh, I suppose you could move everything into one huge bin and the program might complain about duplicate names. Or not. You might have to sort by name and manually delete. Then put verything back into bins.

I was hoping there was a function but I will do just that. Heres to convoluted projects…. At least it is (another) beautiful day in Florida…..

Why get rid of duplicates at all? It makes the project file bigger but that’s about it.

You can always use the “remove unused” function, that should take care of some of them.

Premiere can’t remove files that are in use, so removing duplicates and replacing them with the first version automatically would probably be asking for trouble.

I am just getting rid of extra unused elements that are adding size to the project. They are not in use in this latest project but are elements used to build old sequences etc. Just trying to keep it lean and mean.

    Use the Project Manager

How do you use Project Manager to fix duplicate clips issue?

Not sure if this accomplishes exactly what you’re after, but I often will create a new project and import just the bins and sequences I need to slim things down. Really helps with those big unruly projects that make the system choke.
