Hi i just searched for something like this and stumbled upon this old thread. It’s almost what i would like to achieve….but…. 😉

in this case the colors jumps straight from one color to another, as i am looking for a smooth transition between a given set of colors, and additionaly a little bit of random.

i’m using it on lights that drive a particular and would like to have some minor variations of the color (l’ets say i’m using some kind of green i don’t want to have the same green all the way)

    is this possible ?

Thanks that did the trick…and it even looks pretty convincing 😉

As u said. I took an empty frame (without car) tracked the letter in Mocha. imported the shape data to after FX. imported the emptyframe. added a polar coordinates and turbulent displace and some color correction to match the reflection oi the car…. and it works 😉

    thy again for the tip.

Thanks Kalle that’s actually a pretty good idea…. !!! A friend of mine came up with the idea of doing (at least) one clean plate of the car, then use mocha to track the letters and put the clean plate on top (animating the reflections with some kind of warp). Or doing 3 clean plates (one in the beginning, in the middle and the end) and try to morph them (some sort) into each other while tracking. But your solution might do the trick as well. Will try that out today !

    Thanks again for the input.

i^m actually doing NOTHING…just trying to select keyframes. it freezes. icon starts flickering in the task bar (moves left right) gets back, AE is unresponsive and comes back between 10sec and 1 min…..

i did now notice that even Illustrator and premire do get unresponsive. but not so much as AE… i have no idea what might be the problem. i tried updating, deactivating antivirus, flushing caches…etc. everathing i could think of with no luck. Even moving my working HDD to another slot did not help. the one thing i see is a peak in the CPU at one point but i cannot figure out what might do that….
