Easy Setup will also give you the correct sequence setting without manipulating any settings.

Give them the raw camera originals (tape or camera data). Let them figure out how to edit the footage.

I had a client that tried to do that to me. I got a frantic call from the client asking me how to get the P2 footage into their system.

  • You can via Firewire. I would also record to P2 cards if possible. If something happens during the capture, you will lose everything.

I would suggest recording to a KiPro. HVX 200 Component out.

Make sure you have a lead in to the file (1-2 seconds). Better yet, add a slate and a countdown to your video.

Keep in mind quality will only be as good as the original. Never better.

Fortunately Premiere reads the MXF files in the VIDEO folder natively. Overall it’s an easy fix. Just have to revert to the original card structure. That would be a Folder with the Project Name. Inside that would be a CONTENTS FOLDER which includes:
    AUDIO
    CLIP
    ICON
    PROXY
    VIDEO
    VOICE
    and a LASTCLIP.TXT file.

Other options are AVC-Intra 1920×1080 or ProRes 1920×1080.

Your damage has been done. NEVER mess with the cards structure. For fail proof and safe offloading, use Shotput Pro from Imagine Products!!! No excuse not to use it.

Converting NTSC to Pal is not as easy as you think. You HAVE to do it BEFORE you edit. The free way to do it is using Compressor the $100 option is using Nattress Standards Conversion plug in.

Exporting footage and changing the sequence will NOT convert the footage.

Nest the clips or create a sequence called raw footage, place all footage into sequence and scroll away. The last thing you want to do as an editor is to learn bad habits.
