I can tell you that the lack of RAM and hard drive storage will Slow you down. You never mentioned how much footage you will acquire.

FW800 RAID 0 drive could help you out.

ProRes HQ is overkill for your MBP and will slow it to a crawl. Use ProRes or ProRes LT.

Fast hard drives (RAID) also make a difference in playback performance.

I would suggest convert everything to ProRes. HDV is very taxiing on your MBP especially using multicam.

The output of your computer is a Computer signal not a TV signal. As you have noticed their is a difference in quality.

Matrox, AJA and Blackmagic make devices that properly display a video image from your FCP timeline.
If your 13″ MBP has FW800 and/or Thunderbolt port, you can connect to those devices.

If you are on a Mac, this is normal. Connect via USB.

Firewire port is good for capturing and printing back to dv.
…and recording to FS100.

A few things catch my eye:

1. Detail level – Bring Down
2. Detail Coring – Bring Down
3. Master Pedestal – I can’t see what you are shooting but you may be crushing your blacks which can add noise to your picture.
4. Turn DRS OFF. This is where a lot of noise is coming from.

Matrix: Fluo is no good for green screen.

This is not a great time to find bargains on hard drive prices. Prices are not expected to drop for at least a year. With that note, do not skimp on hard drives. You WILL get what you pay for. Stick with G-Tech or check out the external drives from Other World Computing. Get an enclosure with eSATA and FW800. Speed is everything when editing.

This is the best price I’ve seen on a 3 TB drive in awhile.
