With FCP you can open up many project files as you want. Just open them up and compare the contents in the bins. Take a very close look at the sequences. These use the most amount of space.

Yes, it’s called FCP X. The equivalent of a FCP 7 upgrade would be Premiere Pro CS6. You are better off investing in the entire CS6 Production Premium. Adobe’s Creative Cloud is also an option to look at.

The actual editor in the truck is the EVS (elvis) operator. They’re responsibility is replays, highlights, bumpers, teasers, etc.

Don’t expect DVCAM footage to look as good as EX3 footage (XDCAM HD).

Get yourself the AJA ioXT or a Matrox MXO2 device. You have more options with Matrox. Output your video video HDMI from the IO device to a TV monitor. Don’t use a computer monitor to judge your output.

Why? These do not take up much space. Deleting these files will guarantee you will need to go back to them at some time.
Hard drives are coming down in price. If this project is important to you, you will invest in hard drives rather than trashing files to save space.

The steps Jerry is referring to are in the FCP manual. What you want to do is select File/Export/QuickTime Movie. Check self-contained movie. This will create a file base movie in the codec which you edited. Open up Compressor and drop that file into Compressor. Select a preset for DVD. 60 minute with a CBR of 7 is perfect. Also select an AC3 file for your audio. As I said, this is in the manual.
This gives you more control over Send to Compressor feature.
