What is this job profiles called.
Posted by Pratul Gaikwad on August 27, 2012 at 3:36 pmOk this not a technical question but i didnt find any other place to put this question.
Here I go-What do you call the editor who edits the live transmitted sports?
Like the live broadcasted sport events.Who decides which camera angle to use when? when to use crowds reactions?
My question is very specific to sport editing only. Please let me know the term used for this video editing profiles.
Thanks

August 27, 2012 at 4:33 pmThe person who calls for the shots is The Director.
The person who actually pushes the button on the switcher is The Technical Director.Sometime (depending on budget and size of the shoot) they are the same person.
Steve.

Yup…the director does this. And the TD does the switching. Sports, news…any live TV event.

In the olden times, before most of the alphabet was invented, we used to call this person a “switcher”.

August 27, 2012 at 5:45 pmI always liked UK term “vision mixer”. Like “switcher” it could refer to the hardware or the person operating it.

August 29, 2012 at 5:40 amIf there is somebody (the director) tell you what and when to switch, you are THE MIXER.
If there is nobody directing you, you are THE DIRECTOR.
