Doesn’t matter what tapeless format you are working with. Unless you follow the workflow correctly, you will get burned in the end.

P2 is not plug and play. The very first thing you want to do is Back up the P2 card data to 2 separate hard drives. These will be your Tape Masters. Never log and transfer from the P2 card itself. Camera has to be in device mode in order for computer to see the P2 card. If FW doesn’t see the card, try USB.

One thing you can try is the Thunderbolt to FW cable ($29). You won’t have to daisy chain you devices.

To troubleshoot, I would just connect the deck to the Mac then start by daisy chaining each of your hard drives individually then daisy chain both of them to your deck see where the problem is.

Have your friend get you the original QT Movie from an NLE. Base your quality off of that. The video you are trying to look has been compressed and decompressed so many times, its quality has suffered.

You are better off investing in the PCD2 ($325). It connects via USB. USB2 and USB are backwards compatible. If you’re not selling your old computer, use that.

The only way is to make sequences for each of your videos and do a batch export. Either way, it’s a lot of manual labor.
