I own both Porta Brace and Kata. Both are very good. Porta brace is bulkier. Kata is very breathable. It is actually comprised of three layers.

I do not use it but, Varizoom makes a few zoom controller that works with the DVX100B and HVX.

Please note, it will not work on other DVX versions.

If quality is important to the producers, re-transfer the original footage into an editable format for FCP.

If not, you gotta rip those DVD’s.

I hate to say this, but you should have set your FS-100 to DVCPro 50.

Unless you plan to go out to film, there is no need to shoot in 24p. Use 30p.
