This is the Pre-FCP X forum. Ask your question in the FCP X forum. Workflow is totally different.

FCP is looking for the files from the drive you originally used.
I’m gonna guess you dragged and dropped the file on another drive. Use Media Manager to make a copy of your media.

Making the highest quality DVD starts with your original acquisition. If your production value is good, so will your DVD.
Compression techniques also need to be considered. There is no magic button to push.
Another alternative to DVD is a digital copy or BluRay.

Convert that h.264 clip to an FCP friendly editing codec such as ProRes.

Why don’t you try dropping the file into Compressor.

May 1, 2013 at 10:29 pm in reply to: Convert P2 structure to friendlier single file format for PC (or Mac)? The workflow is different on a PC than with FCP 7. FCP 4-7 never was able to read the original MXF files from P2 cards. The way to get the files on your system was to use log and transfer. FCP would create a whole new DVCProHD video file from your P2 data.
NLE’s such as Adobe Premier and Avid Media Composer work with the native P2 MXF files and all you do is import those files on your system. Premiere and Media Composer are identical on the Mac and PC.
Your question is a little confusing. Do you want to take your DVCProHD codec (QuickTime) files from a Mac and use them on a PC? Or do you want to import P2 files on a PC NLE?

There is nothing you can do without the original discs. It is always recommended to make disc images. It saves a lot of time when you need to do a reinstall. Can I assume that you do not have your serial number for FCS 3?

You would have to physically change its dimensions in Compressor. The other way is to crop the image Hopefully, it was shot with the 2.39:1 in mind.
