On this question, what I was attemping to do was:
I took an AVI and put in Vegas. I rendered it to Mpeg2, when I was done, then I copied that Mpeg2 file into Adobe Soundbooth, so I could clean up the audio, then saved it to another name (which I am sure rendered again to Mpeg2. That is why I was asking if you re-rendered an Mpeg, would it degrade the quality?

Well, I was going to try to put a composite envelope on the top track, so I could fade in and out, to and from the bottom. I tried the multicam function, and for some reason it is really doing some funky things. I’ve redone this project about 3 times at least, and this is my last shot at seeing if this will work any beter.
By highliting, you are refering to clicking on the beginning of the said even and dragging mouse to the end, right?

I already have everything cut-up and sync’d up. Now what I need to do is start from the left, and move everything towards the beginning, but keeping the top and bottom tracks together, so as to butt them up or crossfade them. Some tracks on top I need to move indepently from the bottom. Several chunks need to be moved as top/bottom, and several on top or bottom need to be move seperately from the other.

I think that you are referring to 1 clip all cut up and playing on a bunch of screens at the same time, right? I don’t think he was reffering to a buch of clips on a video wall. Is the video wall in both programs able to use only one clip, and cut it up across the screen and play all of them simeltaeously?

What I was refering to about the crossfade was, I have about 5 minutes that I could cut totaly out, and was just wondering if I can do a normal 2 splits/delete/ and crossfade the left and right back together, without messing anything up.

Yep, I see one event, about 28 minutes into the project. Can I still do color correction? And can I do a regular split and crossfade this far into the project, or should I have done all these things before? Will the crossfade move all tracks if I grab the top track, and leave everything still synced? I am almost done with the project, just the things listed above, then to the multi cam button. Then I just do a normal render, rights?
    Thanks so much.

I think I have got it. I have the tracks in the following positions: Track #1 – Master track (Tally))
    #2 – the Pip View
#3 – is the overlay track
    #4 – #1 Video track
    #5 – #1 Audio track
    #6 – #2 Video track
    #7 – #2 Audio track
#8 – Master track (looks like a video trk)
Track 8 is empty at the moment, and seems to be a video track. Track #1 (which is currently the Tally, says Master Track, and seems to be a video track also.
Sound like everyting is kosher at this time? I have presently put in about a dozen markers, and was wondering if I have to finish installing all the markers at this time, or can I shut down/close Vegas & continue this later, and if so, what is the procedure for continueing putting in markers at a later point? And can I still do color correction at this point, or should I have done it before I got this far?
    Thanks alot Ed!!!

Okay, hopefully one (maybe) last question. I had done this once and backed up to where I used the “edit remove script”.
Although I did that, I also did a “remove from project” any files that aren’t being used. That removed the tally file. Which is okay, but it also left the multicam screen on my other monitor, even though I wasn’t in Excalibur anymore, and when I ran Excalibur again last night, I have no tally on the monitor when choosing which camera. Sorry for so many questions, but I surely appreciate all your feedback. I know it is me, not the program. I guess until I know your program forward and backward, all I can do is ask for help. I appreciate you patients.

Ed, Also I was wondering something. I have put all my media and audio on their respective tracks. Everything is synced up. How can I go from here with Excalibur? The one track has several clips to it, and if I use the progam the way it describes, I end up having seven track by using “Create project” button in Excalibur. I don’t want to jepordize having to do the re-syncing.

A couple of other questions, sorry! If I am using multicam and want to cut & crossfade both sets of tracks (2 cams), how is this done? Do I go to “select all”, and then cut and crossfade? Also if I use Escalibur, is there a way to put all the clips of camera #1 as 1 camera entry? I have about 6 clips for camera #1, and 1 clip for camera #2. When I followed the directtions it told me to add the clips for each camera. This ended up in me having 7 sets of tracks instead of just two.
