You’re quite right Nikei, it’s very poor that this bug has been a part of FCP for so long.
I’ve onlined heaps of TV programming and docos with Final Cut and the manual re-working of motion effects sometimes takes as much time as the conform.What I do to make it as quick and painless as possible is:

Yeah it’s happened on and off. It usually occurs if you’ve had network drives mounted and have un-mounted them while FCP is still open. Try saving the project to another drive, that’s worked for me before.

Does the G5 take a performance hit running on PCIX via the bridge when compared to running on a PC with native PCIe?

I had this issue last week suddenly too.
Only thing is, I’m on OSX.3.8, FCP4.5 & QT6.5.2.
I’ve not seen the problem before or since and have no idea what may have caused it, aside from my storage drives being dangerously full.
A restart solved my problem.
