A lot depends on the length of the original media and on how you did the speed change, constant or variable. There are changes to media manager in v5.

This is a bug. We’re still seeing it in 5.0. Here’s a possible fix for you.

If you open up the motion tabs of the new (managed) shots, you’ll see the speed change key frame markers. For some reason, an extra key frame gets placed in the new clip. Delete that keyframe and you should be back to where you started. This doesn’t work in all cases, but for some types of speed changes it will work. Also, be wary of still frames. They too can get confused by the media manager.

    Hope this helps.

This is really a great blunder. That means there is no way I can recapture and rely blindly on media manager. And even v5 is have save the problem, how everybody doing their online? And how you people can still say good things about FCP, if it

You’re quite right Nikei, it’s very poor that this bug has been a part of FCP for so long.
I’ve onlined heaps of TV programming and docos with Final Cut and the manual re-working of motion effects sometimes takes as much time as the conform.

What I do to make it as quick and painless as possible is:

Yeah, you’d think by version 5.0 Apple would have fixed this very basic function. Multi-cam is really nice, but the ability to correctly recapture motion effected clips would be so much nicer.
