  • thanks Patrice! That works.

  • I am. I scrub through an audio track in the Viewer and “M” mark all of the spots I want to make cuts. After marking all the spots, I then use the razor blade in the timeline to go one by one, mark by mark and and a cut. This is time consuming and repetitive to say the least. This is something I do quite often on projects and was frustrated enough to try and spend some time looking for a shortcut to this process.

  • Hi David
    The “less’ hours I edit, the higher my rate so shortcuts are my friend!

  • The Control-V works ! Is there a way to do this in the Viewer window ? I’m cutting around dead spots in the audio track and prefer the viewer window as it show me the wave form in a much clearer way than the timeline.

    In compressor, I used the BluRay setting and the quality of the burned BluRayDVD was terrible. There was plenty of artifacts and the image quality didn’t match my 1080 in the timeline.

    here’s my attempted workflow:

    FCP -> Export QT Movie (Current Settings, Audio + Video, DVD Studio Pro Markers even though I’m not going to use DVDSP)

    Compressor ->drag/drop QT movie and choose create BluRay. I hit submit. I did not burn in compressor.

    Toast 10 -> opened .ac3 and the .h264 to create a bluRay. The quality on the BluRay DVD was awful.

    Hi Steve,

    I followed a thread about Final Cut share errors when trying to create a BluRay. I”m having the same issue with the share function. My project is 1hr 30 minutes. I cycle between 2 different errors..

    (1) Final Cut quit unexpectedly
    (2) Error; not enough memory

    I’m on a dual Quad Core Mac Pro 10GB Memory. You mentioned using the Matrox card. Can you describe the workflow for this ?

    FCP-> Export Quicktime ? Then what ?

    “you know you could of paid for a compressHD card in the first couple of shows. just export QT from FCP using the Matrox H.264 and directly export the files… done. hours and hours saved. ”

    Sorry about that, I’m using a Mac Pro Dual Quad core. Sequence settings: Apple ProRes 422 1920×1080 60i. Since my last post, I was able to successfully create a Bluray using Share (it took 23 hours) However, since then, FCP has been crashing. Thanks!

    Got it, I’ll remember that next time. Also, going through my project I noticed that a couple motion files got corrupted, so everytime I try to render them, FCP crashes. In the timeline, the thumbnail shows a red/white checked background. Its the same in the finder as well, the file name is the same, but the media is missing and only the red/white checked background appears. How would these files get corrupted? Is there a way to reconnect them? Thank you for your help!

    They are movie files that were sent to motion. But even the files that weren’t sent to motion need to be re-rendered. The story is: It’s a project that grew too large for my disc space(let’s call this drive 1), so I backed it up on my external drive and an other internal drive (drive 2). When I got a bigger drive 1, I moved the project from drive 2 back to drive 1. After this, when I opened the project on drive 1, I had to reconnect the media. I checked the Render Files folder and everything was there, but I could find a way to reconnect the render files. I hope this makes sense and Thank you for your help!
