[Bob Zelin] “You see – THATS the problem. The goal is to make EVERYONE an editor. And unfortunately, this will happen. And there will be no generic video business – just like there is barely a professional audio business (Recording Studios) or Print houses. And with RARE exception, any need for “professional” photographers (and the ones that exist make a fraction of what they used to make).

In the same way that there is a small handful of hi end recording studios, a handful of hi end photographers, a handful of print shops, these businesses, which were abundant at one time, are now over for the mass market of people that made their living with this stuff. And “we” are next. “

That’s really NOT the case here in the UK. Accessible tools might kill off a few “Dinosaurs” but those of us who keep up with new developments and and adapt to them, have more opportunities than ever.

[Bill Davis] “I’ve had to access maybe 10 “older” projects that were archived, and it typically takes about 10-20 seconds for the non 10.4 Library to be updated to the revised 10.4 format – and I haven’t had a problem with any of them.

I’ll second that, I’ve updated quite a few libraries with zero issues so far

Do a clean install of everything, I’ve had no major issues with HS but there are plenty of people who have apparently

[Michael Hancock] “If they use the color wheels and get used to those they’re going to be in for a bad time if they ever move to any another system, or use any third party plugin with wheels!”

Or they’ll be delighted by the fact that it takes less moves to do the same correction that they are doing in FCPX 🙂

[Bill Davis] “Those who have less prior conditioning – will simply aporoach the new tools as they are and feel “this is how it works” and not really notice any issues.”

The Colour Wheels aren’t “new tools” they are an unusually implemented version of very old tools! It’s not a new way of doing things.

You’re constant “new paradigm” argument doesn’t apply in this case

[Neil Goodman] “People on this or any forum shouldn’t have to tip toe around your personal feelings for Apple.

Let alone stop making valuable contributions here based on his attempts to shut down any real or even implied criticism of FCPX

[Simon Ubsdell] “[Bill Davis] “Instead of saying from square one “I don’t get what APPLE is trying to do here.” The messaging that started to catch fire was that X was once again flawed for professional use. ”

    One final clarification:

I explicitly and clearly labelled my initial video as a “Mystery” – specifically, “Apple FCP X 10.4: The Color Wheels Mystery”.”

    So many windmills!

[Bill Davis] “This was once one of the MOST popular hubs of that.

Realistically, sadly, (honestly, crushingly to me personally) not so much anymore.

Well apart from the fact that it has the clearest discussion of all the forums about the Colour wheels “issue”
