Can I just add it’s great to see Simon back, I was about to stop visiting but this debate and the return of Tim has kept me here 🙂

Seems like Apple are already ahead of the game!

However is this why people are reporting performance issues with FCPX 10.4?

Apple slows down phones to preserve battery life and the internet goes mad, Intel may have left a vulnerability in ALL their processors and there’s not many headlines about it at all!

I’ll be very interested to see what the official word is from Intel

January 2, 2018 at 10:11 pm in reply to: Happy Holidays to All, but most especially to …

[Tim Wilson] “The past year…really, the past 16 months or so…have been among the hardest of my life, with death, genuinely catastrophic medical crises, a hasty long-distance move in pursuit of necessarily advanced care, and a crazy pile of other stuff that has lamentably kept me away from posting here at all in months. “

Sorry to hear that Tim, sending you all the positive vibes I can muster and I wish you a much, MUCH better 2018.

Looking forward to you getting back on the COW 🙂

Hi Cherin, I checked out your YouTube channel, what fascinating work you do! Please let us know how the iMac Pro works for you. I imagine it’s going to be quite a leap in performance, but until we start seeing some real world use of them in January we can only really guess.

[Jeremy Garchow] “You can “hack” FCPX and remove the Sony import plugin if you’d like, that allows “leave in place” importing of MXF files.

We work with Sony MXF a lot. Never had any issues with drag and drop.

Thanks Jeremy, I work with FS7 footage a lot, I occasionally use the drag and drop method but If you’ve been happy with it then I’ll abandon the import window for it.

Funny thing is that even on my 2013 MacBook Pro I don’t really find myself waiting a long time for renders so I imagine people with newer Mac systems don’t either.

I’ve Spent so many years enjoying the discussions on this forum but I think I’m done now, it’s clearly dominated by PC users, trolls and people who know very little about FCPX. Shame really but I’ll pop back if I ever want some PC buying advice

So long and thanks for all the fish

[Jeremy Garchow] “Bypass the import window and drag and drop the MXF files in to the Library.

Yes that works, it’s always seemed like a bit of a workaround though. The “Leave in place” option should work but it doesn’t

[Bob Zelin] “I would like to see a consortium group of users hold Apple executives “hostage” (this is an expression of speech – I am not suggesting that someone does something illegal) and FORCE them to answer the question “why won’t you fully cooperate with NVidia “

Yeah right, how about we hold ADOBE to account for NOT making their software run better on Ati cards?

[Bob Zelin] “and people will still buy your computers”. “

[Bob Zelin] “It’s a shame that “we” have to suffer financially

Sorry, how do we suffer financially?
