Ok, what I’ve come to fine out through my own trials and those of another in my area is that this is not a QT Issue, it’s not a Live Type issue, it’s not a Mac Intel 8 Core issue, but it is a Blackmagic issue.
You’re posts don’t mention it, but I’m guessing that you have a Black Magic card or box or some kind of I/O device from them.
I can’t remember what causes it or how to fix it, but I think if you remove the BlackMagic Codec.component from the Quicktime Library when you use Live Type and rendwer out a QT of the graphic and then put it back when you are done that will give you a work around.
The other option that I and others did was to goe back to FCP 6.0.2 and QT 7.4.1
