    Yes I’m using Final Cut Pro.

    So regardless of if I’m using the XD Transfer software, I will need a deck or the camera.

    I thought I read somewhere that the XD Transfer now has a down convert in it.

    Is this true?

    Thanks;

    When all else fails go into the system prefereces and change your starup disk to the cd and it will boot.

    I’ve done this when my keyboard is not responding.

    I agree with you, I’m just dealing with corporate suite that don’t understand that parts are parts and most of the time third party are just as good if not better.

    I thought that memory used to be an issue if it was not Apple memory, but that may have been before the Intel chips.

    Thanks again everyone.

    Thanks for the info Alan and David.

    The ATI RADEON 3870 is not offered by the Apple store and I think I’m going to have a hard enough time convincing the powers that be to go with third party RAM let alone a third party video card.

    As far as the ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB that Apple offers standard should that be sufficient or is that possibly why my other editor is complaining that the system crashes when he uses motion?

    Thanks again;

    I used 2 black slugs cropped to match my 16 x 9 shot footage.
    I but it over the entire show so if there are minor difference it doesn’t show.

    Ok, what I’ve come to fine out through my own trials and those of another in my area is that this is not a QT Issue, it’s not a Live Type issue, it’s not a Mac Intel 8 Core issue, but it is a Blackmagic issue.

    You’re posts don’t mention it, but I’m guessing that you have a Black Magic card or box or some kind of I/O device from them.

    I can’t remember what causes it or how to fix it, but I think if you remove the BlackMagic Codec.component from the Quicktime Library when you use Live Type and rendwer out a QT of the graphic and then put it back when you are done that will give you a work around.

    The other option that I and others did was to goe back to FCP 6.0.2 and QT 7.4.1
