I’ve never actually used the Lagarith codec, although I do have it installed. We settled on Cineform as an intermediate codec when ‘Uncompressed’ isn’t feasible, say, on an hour long program. However, Lagarith is free, and Cineform isn’t.
Truthfully, I haven’t switched between Premiere and AE in this manner since CS5 came out, preferring instead to open the Premiere sequences in AE directly via Dynamic Link. However, when we did use intermediate files, we had a rule to keep the video structure as close to the original as we could. In other words, if the original was interlaced, we stayed interlaced.
