Plugins have been a nightmare for many since 2014 was released. Try removing all plugins from the Plugins folder, and then try to open the project. Of course if it opens, you’ll get the ‘plugins missing’ warning, but at least you’ll know that a plugin is causing the problem. Then add the plugins back one at a time to find the offending one.

A couple of weeks ago I noticed that our Color Suite and Trapcode plugins had disappeared from Premiere’s Effects Panel. I’ve spent too much time over the past year or so troubleshooting Red Giant’s plugins – uninstalling/re-installing them, uninstalling/re-installing Premiere, reformatting and re-installing Windows 7, clearing the plugin cache, trashing preferences(which always leads to the .m2ts file being ‘unsupported’), even having Red Giant techs connect to my machine to scope out the problem – so I’ve abandoned them. Perhaps some day they’ll be usable again.

Getting multiple takes from a single clip would be a hassle in Prelude.

There may be an easier way, but I’d consider making subclips in Premiere, which effectively allows for multiple in/out points per master clip, then batch transcode the subclips to Cineform.

Sounds like a job for Prelude. Depending on your version of CC, and operating system, since Cineform encoding is now native, I’d go with that. Certainly not truly ‘lossless’, but I really doubt you’ll be able to notice. If you’re really wanting to go ‘lossless’, the free Lagarith codec boasts that, but be ready for huge file sizes.

Not sure how files can be named sequentially with random numbers. Sure would like to see a screen grab of that.

At any rate, if you decide that you need to rename the files, a utility like Winsome File Renamer will make it a breeze, allowing you to set rules for renaming lots of files truly sequentially, and viewing a preview of the renamed files before actually hitting ‘Go’.

October 9, 2014 at 11:55 pm in reply to: Match frame kills I/O in Source Monitor

Thanks Walter! I wasn’t aware that Match Frame picked up the In/Out points assigned to that clip in the timeline. Still, what I’m describing has never happened before, and I’ve been using the ‘technique’, silly as it may now sound, for years. I only have one clip in the sequence, and I’m trying to make many subclips out of it. Being able to set the I/O points in the timeline then Match Frame will make that easier.

    57 and still learning…

October 9, 2014 at 5:49 pm in reply to: Some plugins are gone after update

Not with the latest update, 2014.1, but with the last one I had the exact issue. I did some fairly extensive testing and discovered 4 of the FilmImpact plugins that appeared to conflict with Red Giant’s Colorista and MB Looks. Whenever those plugins were removed, Premiere was then able to ‘see’ the Red Giant plugins. I just got an email from FilmImpact and, of course, they claim they cannot duplicate the issue, so they have deemed that it’s specific to my machine. However, they tried it with trial versions of the Red Giant plugins, which isn’t a valid test at all.

Try removing the FilmImpact plugins and see if Premiere can see the Red Giant ones.

Actually fairly common after an update, and usually indicates a SNAFU in the activation of your CC license. Start by logging out of CC, then log back in.
