March 26, 2014 at 1:58 am in reply to: Fcp7 to 7toX to Fcx XML import error ‘the item is not on an edit frame boundary’… How to correct?Wild thought… Could I create alaises (or have FCPX create sym links?) and drag all the ‘alaised’ media from the subfolders to one BIG folder that would contain ‘virtually’ every clip that could have possibly been referenced in these the FCP7 sequence?
If someone knows the step-by-step and it’s possible, that would be great… Thanks ~

March 26, 2014 at 1:45 am in reply to: Fcp7 to 7toX to Fcx XML import error ‘the item is not on an edit frame boundary’… How to correct? Thanks for the tip. Just sent feedback to Greg.
The larger problem is that the media referenced in the FCP7 sequences (2008) was completely rearranged/reorganized into about 100 subfolders last year and relinking seems all but impossible drilling down to check for ‘matches’ in each folder. (All clips DO show up in the FCP7 sequence though). If there was a way to bring the clips referenced in the FPC7 sequence along into FCPX, that would be great. Any hope there? Or some other solution that I don’t know about?

March 24, 2014 at 9:27 pm in reply to: Updating 10.09 projects w/’Update Projects & Events’ not letting me pick folders/projects to update…Ok… I jumped too quickly before reading the last post (Thanks for the clear step-by-step, Don) …and did it wrong. To trash the new library I created, close FCXP, drag it to trash on finder level, and begin again, yes? Just checking to be sure…

I’m not sure what you mean by “you can avoid the actual media being copied by consolidating the library media to an external folder.”
Not sure which ‘external folder’… If there’s a quick step-by-step for a good solution, I’d appreciate. Sorry to have to ask…

March 12, 2014 at 10:52 am in reply to: Relinking “Incompatible Files”…”must have same media type & similar audio channels…”No… In a rush to get stuff on a portable drive this is what I did:
Copied all original media to the portable at finder level. Then, also at finder level, dragged 4 libraries in. 3 of them needed a bit of relinking but no errors as described. The original media hasn’t been changed in duration, etc. It has been referenced with 10.09 projects previously.
If anyone can tell me where to ‘select a single item to get info about why it’s not compatible’… and then what can I do to fix the issue, that would be great.
I just need to be able to drag some clips into a timeline for viewing temporarily, I won’t be trying to open these projects after this road trip.

January 29, 2014 at 10:49 pm in reply to: Adding new clips to an existing event folder already (automatically) named on a previous import…Yes… had to go through a number of keyword collections deleting dupes. I looked for a way to do it with a shortcut, but didn’t find one. Lesson learned…
