Just FYI, I didn’t use an adaptor. Just a straight mini-USB-to-USB cable from the camera to the computer.

Are you using a mini-USB or a USB-to-USB (data) cable? I was using a data USB, had to use mini USB. The AG-HPX250 also doesn’t work with 1390. Hope this helps.

HI Alison,
Yes. Turns out it wasn’t a Lion issue at all. In fact it was rather embarrassingly simple. Being a Mac guy I’m used to using Firewire for transfer. That doesn’t work. I then tried a USB data transfer cable (the one that’s flat (the same) on both sides. That didn’t work, either. Turned out all I needed was a MINI USB to USB cable. When connected the P2 card in the camera shows up as a drive on the desktop and you can work with it easily with either FCP 7 or Premiere CS5. I’m making the switch from FCP to Premiere, and I love it so far. Faster, easier, more powerful. I have not bothered with FCP X.
So, simple: Use a mini USB (connected to the camera) to USB (to the computer).
Blushing at my silly mistake. ~:-)

December 25, 2011 at 6:56 am in reply to: Cannot capture footage from PANASONIC AG-HPX250PI have done that. Still no recognition with the Lion OS. The camera doesn’t even show up as a “drive” on the desktop. Quite simply, nothing happens at all.

December 25, 2011 at 6:54 am in reply to: Cannot capture footage from PANASONIC AG-HPX250PI have tried everything. Apparently I’m not the only one having this issue. Mac, Lion OS. The camera does not mount as a “hard drive” on the desktop at all. And yeah, I’ve tried “both” – all and everything. There seems to be no support yet for the Mac OS and Lion with this camera. At my whit’s end, basically.

Casey,
I’m in the same boat. Seems we’re out at sea ’till Panasonic does something new. Terribly frustrating. Will keep you posted if I hear anything, please do the same!

Yeah, I’m having the same problem. Very frustrating. Panasonic’s site is terrible, and there’s no mention of new software for Lion coming out, much less support.

December 24, 2011 at 12:02 pm in reply to: Cannot capture footage from PANASONIC AG-HPX250PI am not sure that I’ve been clear at all about all of this. The P2 does not even show up (mount) on my desktop. It simply isn’t recognized by anything. The closest i can get to “movement” is that Premiere (not FCP) manages to play and pause the camera. And yet it does not work in any way other than that. FCP sees nothing, and the P2 codec/FCP translator doesn’t even show up as an option in Log and Transfer . . .
Tired and frustrated by this.

I’m sorry , I did not in fact use Log and Capture I used Log and Transfer. Nothing is being recognized at all, in either Premiere or FCP (6.0.6, not 7). I’ve worked with P2 footage before, but I’ve got nothin’ here.
Chris, I think Ive installed the right driver, also tried the viewer, which doesn’t work.
Here’s the link I used. https://eww.pass.panasonic.co.jp/download/DownloadRequest.do
I’ve installed both AVC-Intra Decoder for MAC
(AVC-Intra to QuickTime transcoder software for FinalCutPro)and
AVC-Intra Encoder for Compressor (Mac)
(QuickTime file to AVC-Intra)
encoder plug-in for Apple Compressorand
AVCCAM Viewer for Mac
Very odd. Rather frustrating.
Also, I am not sure why the 1394 control option disappears when I’m in AVC mode on the camera. The manual says it isn’t available, but they don’t say why.

December 23, 2011 at 9:16 am in reply to: SOLUTION NEEDED AVC-Intra codec P2 cards final cut pro 6.0.1 white imageHi Shane,
I am unable to get FCP 6.0.6 to recognize that I have the Panasonic AG-HPX250 connected. Any suggestions you can help me with? Very frustrating. I have had older p2 cams and Sony Z7U footage without incident. It’s not even seeing the camera attached.
Thanks!
