I think Motion’s real time speed is what makes it such a great app. I used to be a die hard AE guy and used Motion to create text every once in a while. When they added the 3D camera I started to take it more seriously. I built this TV show open in Motion instead of AE because of the real time capabilities. Because of that and other things I feel I was able to build it faster in Motion. Keep in mind Motion can only handle so much real time and that it starts to chug as things get complicated. I still use both programs, but I use Motion a lot more. Here is a link to some more projects created with Apples Motion.

If you are seeing everything but it is in black and white that is because the image mask is on the wrong layer. The image mask needs to be on the group that has the particles, not the white text. Take a look at this link to a video tutorial on creating a hologram. The middle of the tutorial covers image masks. Best of luck.

Here is a tutorial I did on how to do an offset track in Motion. I guess it depends on the footage, but a one point offset track is easy to do. Just take a look at the tutorial. My concern is the rotation or skewing caused by a 4 point track not lining up with anything other then the picture frame because it is being hand held. Meaning, if the hands move the picture frame the background will be at different angles compared to the picture frame. It could be a lot of fun to take a look and see if it works. Take a look at the tutorial I linked to at the start of this paragraph.

An option is to do a 4pt Match Move from once you see all 4 points to when you don’t see them again. Then select the Match Move Behavior and go up to Object, Convert to Keyframe. Then you can keyframe the video going in and then out and not have to worry about the middle because the behavior took care of that. Hope this made sense. Best of luck.

Parameter Behaviors need to be applied to a behavior. Under the Behavior tab make sure “Apply To” is set to some parameter or the behavior will do nothing. Take a look at this link to a thread, I think you may find it of use: Bouncing objects with behaviors Best of luck.

Yes, I eject it every-time. Then load in new footage, log and transfer it and then close out window. Then when I re-open the Log and Transfer window it is back. I guess I don’t need to fix this problem it is just a little annoying.
