If you are using Motion’s Optical flow then don’t use cinema tools. It looks much smoother if you just bring it into Motion and slow it down. But then again, you can always do a test and see what you like the best.

Use the Eight-point garbage mask or bring it into Motion where you have lots of control over masks. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Select the text you want to alter in the Canvas NOT the inspector and then the changes will only effect the selected text. Hope this helps and best of luck.

I think the Frame Object tool is great. Although you already know about it I would still take a look at this tutorial from Mark Spencer about using the F Key.
