Does the Text build like is was originally sand, or is it revealed as the sand disappears?

Yes you can bend arrows. This is how: Create a line using the Bezier or B-Spline tool. Go to the Shape tab, Style. Check the Outline checkbox. Set Start cap to Arrow. You then can adjust the Arrow head. Then go the the Geometry tab. Set Control Point keyframes. bend the arrow and set more keyframes. PS, I find it easiest to have three control points. Hope this “Points” you in the right direction. Best of luck.

This doesn’t sound legal to me. Me personally, I would look into Avid, Premier or FCPX. You will have to at some point so why not know.

If all you have done is captured footage then just import the footage directly into FCP 6.

For credits place all of your text in a group. Add the scroll behavior to the group (can access Motion to look up exact name of behavior) and everything moves at the same speed.

If you are using Keyframes to move the text just copy the keyframes and then paste them to the other text and move the keyframes over a little.
