    Hi Brian,

Thanks for the hint. Since your reply, I’ve been looking at UV mapping, a subject new to me and I think that’s going to be the way forward. I’ve got the hang of it sufficient to create the black separating lines and patterns that I need.

    Cheers

Cheers Brian, I’ve yet to have a go with Sketch and Toon but it looks like it could be an option. One question, can the line retain it size in pro with the model? When I zoom in line remains the same size, ie smaller in pro.

I want to introduce some simple patterns into the coloured areas either side of the line, stripes and dot meshes, which could be a UV map job. I need to do a few more experiments.

I was hoping to avoid the long road, but, hey ho, it’s not so bad.

    Cheers

    Hi Justin,

If I understand, I think that will only work if the surface is flat; the topography is stepped rather like paddy fields. I’ve shown the first 3. I need the grid to sit on each step – there’ll be about 50 in the final project.

    Hi Justin,

Thank you for the response. Yes I tried that but what I’d really like to do is keep the trees in that cloned grid and have that sitting on the topography, which doesn’t itself have a grid, basically drop the individual trees directly down so that still sit in nice, neat rows.

November 20, 2018 at 9:46 am in reply to: Wavy path appearing from nothing with plain effector

    Hi Brian,

Thank you for you response. The wavy path will be a road that descends from the top of a hill. I’m building the topography right now, which you helped me with a few weeks ago. I’d like the road to sweep down and follow the valleys with the road appearing very roughly like the SS below.

As you can see I’ve used a taper deformer here for the visual; maybe that’s the way to do it? If so it would need to travel along the spline ahead of the wave, which I’ve tried however the deformer keeps flicking back and forth, ie facing forward and switching direction backwards. It might be a solution if I can stabilise it.

As an addendum, is it possible to convert a tracer into a ‘regular’ spline, ie one that might be drawn? I’m think ahead a little as I’ll need a way of guiding the road through the topography.

I hope that helps; any further info will gladly be provided.

    Cheers

    Stephen
