M2t is a compressed format – already a strain on most editing PC’s. Any edits have to be re-encoded – every frame that is affected by the edits is re-encoded. And that takes even more processing power.

If they have broken something *AND* can reproduce the problem, then they will fix it. Three or four users with problems after the upgrade hardly makes a compelling argument to drop everything else to fix the issue. The generated text bug that was introduced in an earlier release comes to mind. The problems with the generated text was widespread AND repeatable. And it got fixed pretty fast.

Now I understand the question.
There was some change from 9c to 9d that resulted in improved resource handling. I worry when something shows 100% processor use since that can indicate a runaway process that is not releasing resources. It does *not* mean that the program is working as hard as it can for the assigned task.
The bottom line should be the editing experience. Does encoding the same project take dramatically more or less time than previous? Or is it, as I suspect, about the same?

You mean those little-bitty postage stamp images that have some green in them? Sorry, but you assumed that I would know what to look for. I can barely see them, let alone decode your incomplete question.

If this is on Windows 7 then you are only seeing improvements in how Windows.

Sometimes, renaming the .vob to .mpg works.
For the CSS nonsense, look for a DVD Decrypter program on Google. Remove the CSS protection and Vegas should handle the files OK.

I can’t help you with free, but look at Moyea MX-Pro. I use it to encode Fash video from Vegas AVI files.
