Sure sounds like you’re swapping your programs to hard-disk (AKA Pagefile).
Run ‘resmon’ and click on the memory tab while you switch programs. If the “free” memory drops to a few MB or less, then you need more RAM.

Is it a small video? This can happen if you are putting a three or four-minute video on a DVD.

Sure. This isn’t the same psd file in my tutorial, but it is more simple. (And I have to go into the archives to find the psd file from the tutorial).

I’ve been using Photoshop to create my DVD menus (for DVDA) for so long, I don’t know any other way.
Here’s a link to a tutorial I wrote last year. It may be a bit dated, but the basics are the same today.

This would happen to me way back in Version 5 or 6. If I removed all unused media from my project, the problem want away. It’s never happened since.

If you are using the MainConcept template, there is a known problem with *some* nVidia cards. The workaround until Vegas or nVidia get it fixed to to encode using GPU only.
