January 22, 2017 at 5:33 pm in reply to: “This project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements”hi dave … i posted a question to the forum, got one answer …. i’ll ask you …. i stupidly installed 17 for a day, lost a day’s work with bugs and mayhem, deleted and reinstalled 15 … is 17 still a dog’s breakfast ? best to stay away for a while, in your opinion ?
-
so you’re answer is … it’s still buggy as hell ?

thanks both … i hear ya, re: audio. have either of you played around with the lowel blender ? i like the idea of the ability to blend … i’m in toronto, but neither of the big rental houses have it for rent; (for sale, yes.)
again .. any thoughts on the blender or equivalently priced lites would be appreciated. (i’m over the b and h hundred dollar LED’s) ….

i’m creating a sizzle reel today, and trying to re-open 3 month old projects i created on fcp 7; even though i’m directing fcp right to the folder, i still have to reconnect media ONE FILE AT A TIME. after i do that, i stare out the window as the mighty 16-bits of processing power churns through my work. etc etc etc.
this is my last project on fcp, and nearly lost in all the barrage about fcp x is the fact that fcp 7 is still a year and a half behind on basic updates and functionality. it’s slow, it has idiosyncracies galore, and the people that make it don’t give a flying crap about their customers.
three more days left on the adobe fifty percent off sale, i’m getting mine this afternoon, and good riddance to fcp. i’m premiere pro, starting tomorrow.

i ran out and installed snow leopard when it came on the market, and a nearly lost my business. it was a bug ridden pos. given we now know that apple uses early adapters as unpaid beta testers, you’d have to be out of your mind to buy and install this. four versions from now … maybe.
-
bye apple.
gone.
just bought the production premium at fifty percent off …. how can you not ? not to worry apple, i’m sure there are two soccer moms and a leave-britney-alone producer ready to fill my shoes in the fcp x world.
hubris is a bitch.

Chris … quit making excuses for this company. you’ve been brainwashed. we all wanted an (overdue) upgrade on fcs because we were all tired of running our machines at quarter-capacity, tired of going through tedious transcoding to deal with popular codecs etc.
apple LIED to the pros, saying FCP-X would ‘blow us away’ etc … i want 64-bit speed and faster workflow, such as the competition has been providing for years.
i’m not inclined to hold my breath for another year, or 18 months while apple maybe decides to add multi-track capability, or one of a dozen other features that would merely bring this up the useability level of fcp7 that we all have now.
i’m gone to adobe. there is no choice in the matter for me as a professional fcp-x is for soccer mom /youtubers who need an app to do half the creative for them.
enjoy it, and enjoy breathlessly waiting for the upgrades. talk to you in two years.

June 27, 2011 at 2:56 pm in reply to: [Q] Mercury engine NVIDIA graphics cards for PC and Maci’m getting all kinds of conflicting advise on this.
i just spoke to Adobe, no less, and they told me the specs for a mac were BFG Tech Nividia Geforce 285
but i understand that’s been discontinued ? how does adobe not know that ? i’ve found a brand new 285 … will it still work (optimally) with production premium cs5.5 or do i have to go with the 4000 ?
-
Todd … i posted a comment similar to this on another board: why don’t you elbow the marketing and sales guys ???? there are a thousand disgruntled customers at your doorstep, ready to jump from the competition into your arms … how about a little love ? a few bucks off productions suite … SOMETHING .. ??

i think these past five days can be summed up pretty quickly … the defenders and fans of fcp-ex are free to buy it, use it, wait for apple to improve it, make money with it.
the rest of us will follow the only option(s) we have, and head to avid or adobe.
simple.
i’ve wasted enough time; see you in adobeville.
