I only plan on replicating a thousand dvds for my family. It might go on the internet some day. This is just a family project but i do want the best quality because this will be a keepsake. Also I did shoot some stuff on the sony not at 24p but I think at 29.97 and put it into the 24 p timeline. I hope that was ok.

I watch the stuff on my hd tv and just don’t get why I should put the effort into deinterlacing if I can’t see the difference on my tv. I think the only difference is that it might make my project look more film like if I do it.

    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi Russ,

Yea I shot 24 frames and edited the project in 24 frames. With the sony I cannot remember the exact frames speed but I think it was not shot at 24 frames. But I edited the footage in the same sequence as the footage shot by the panasonic camera in 24 frames. Also most of the footage is just footage of talking heads. I have very little footage of movement. But I do have lots of graphics and photos.

    Thanks

    HI,
When you say single pass do you mean cbror vbr. Do you recommend vbr best or vbr? My project will be about 90 minutes on the first dvd and double that on the dvd 9 that I will be using?

also that blotchiness is what I do not want. This is a documentary and has lost of transitions and cuts.

    Thanks,

    Steve

I am using after effects cs3 professional. Is this why it is not working. Do I need to upgrade to cs4 for pro ress 422 to work in the comp.

    Thanks,

    Steve

October 14, 2009 at 5:59 pm in reply to: basic driver install question?

I used the camera last year and transfered everything on my lab top. But since then I have reinstalled the operating system. I don’t remember how to install the software. I have installed the clipbroswer v251 but I think it might be the wrong version. What version do I need.
I guess because I am working with an older operating system I need older versions of the programs, where do I get those? And what exact drivers do I need.
Like I said this worked for me last year so what I am doing works I just need to transfer it.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi Shane,

This project is just a family project that I am editing on the 720p timeline. I might blow it up in the future to 1080p. If I transfer it using compressor it has more noise. I am wondering since it is 4:3 to just blow it up till it hits the top to the bottom of the screen. So the picture will be in the middle and their will be black on the sides because it does not fill the whole screen. I would rather have the picture smaller then have bad looking footage. Am I thinking right. Would I do the same process with old vhs video. Maybe I should just leave it totally in the 4:3 and not try to blow it up so it will not reach the top to the bottom. The footage coming out of compressor on any of this stuff has too much noise when blown up to hd.

    Thanks steve

    Hi Shane,

    Question,

Is their a difference in quality when you up convert from 720p to 1080 p using the kona. I don’t use the kona but have wondered about this. I have worked on projects and wonder if the quality will be better if I upconverted using the kona. I have been debating weather to just shoot 1080 all the time but it takes up more space but I like the picture quality of the 1080. Does the History Channel use manly 720p or do they work mainly with 1080p. Does 720p look almost as good as 1080p on the history channe. I shoot using the hvx 200.

    Thanks,

    Steve
