October 27, 2012 at 11:40 am in reply to: After Effects CS5.5 missing footage error (Even though it’s there!?!)I also have this problem with .pic (Softimage) sequences in AEX CS6.
Seems this bug has not been fixed. The work-around…. Render in a different image format, from Softimage. A sequence of TGA files doesn’t seem to have this issue.

I realize this is an old post, but I have been suffering with this issue for months, now. I have finally figured out the solution! It is the Microsoft Intellipoint mouse software that is causing the issue. By uninstalling the 6.3 version and installing an old 5.5 version, the problem went away! Here is the link to Microsoft’s Intellipoint 5.5 software:

I use Particle Illusion to create these kind of effects
https://www.wondertouch.com/
well worth the $399.00
I use it a lot for amny types of effects.
I would create an animated image, then take the animation
and place it in my composition, where the window is.Look on their site for all the different particle effects.
There are many that are “light” effects.Best Regards,

Right here, in Creative Cow, there is an excelet tutorial on how to morph in AE. It’s for version 5.5 but it still applies.

Here is something to try in Shatter…
Make sure the shatter layer is NOT 3D
Add a camera
In the Shatter effect layers, go to the textures layer
right below it is Camera System
select Comp Camera
move the time slider to a nice part of the shatter
now move the camera (make sure you are previewing the camera)
now your shatter is true 3D
pretty cool, huh?Best Regards,

Whenever I need to output to a FCP system, I have always outputed to QuickTime, animation codec, at 720 x 486 (.9 pixel aspect) Best Quality, but I don’t use fields, as I produce animation. I have never had a problem with this. With uncompressed, I have had a problem, but it involves bringing footage from FCP into AE and back out again. The color levels shift. By having FCP use the animation codec to output and using the animation codec to output from AE, all color levels are maintained.

I just had a thought….you could use an expression that controlled the motion of the “magnified area” based on the movement of the magnifying glass. I’m not a big expression guy, but I see that CS3 version of After Effects makes expressions easier, and there is a seperate expressions disscusion group here at the cow.

Hello,
Just do the standard magnafying glass animation, as in the tutorial you mentioned, but set the composition to 5000 px by 1440 px. When the animation is to your liking, precomp the entire composition and import it into a normal sized composition (720 x 486 ???). Because you did the animation at such a high resolution, it will look real good scaled down to standard video resolution. This also allows for any modifications you need to do to the magnifyer animation. Just go back to that composition to make changes.Best regards,
