There is a 720 enabler utility “Media100720EnablerV102.sea.hqx” that will “flash” a 601 board. Here’s the read me for it. I used it on my 601, and it worked like a charm in 7.5.

Yes, I know you’re right. I just wanted to get a clear picture of what I could expect from a P6000 upgrade before hitting NAB. I’ll be at NAB and the M100 user’s group meeting, so I’ll report back.

Thanks for the advice. I doubt I’ll get through all 47 hours, but we’ll see. I got through most of the 4.1 training years ago. Are there any other training DVDs or books that are “must-haves” for learning AE? I’m actually interested in more “cookbook” type training, like some of the podcasts, where a certain effect or look is dissected.

On the XS system, Vincent 601 or P6000 board? If P6000, does it have lossless? Software to 8.x or 8.2.2? Gracias…

  • Thanks all. I ended up swapping the clips in M100 as you suggested, as my After Effects renders take forever. How can I speed up AE when using the M100 NTSC codec? Can I turn off the M100 hardware during AE renders (m100 7.5, AE 5)? Is there any way to use the software-only codec on OS 9?

January 27, 2006 at 5:48 pm in reply to: Media 100 sw on new computer…help!

My message didn’t include what it was actually complaining about, here it is again…The application “Media 100 sw” could not be launched because of a shared library error: Media 100 sw Media 100 HDx fragment.

If you do a search for this, it is actually in the Media 100 sw package (i.e, if you click on the sw app and say view contents, it is in there).

I don’t want to uninstall 8.2.2, anybody have any clues??

I have the exact same problem!! I installed the M100 XML Importer file in my AE plug-ins folder. ThenI go into AE and choose import > file, then choose the XML file. Then AE bombs. This was with AE 6.0. I just downloaded the AE 7.0 tryout, and it does the exact same thing. As soon as I choose the XML file to import, it bombs. AAARRRRH! Tried just dragging the XML file to the dock icon (as user above). Same thing, la bomba.

Anyone know what’t up with that? The XMl file came from Media 100 sw (software), the media was digitized on an 8.2.2 system with a P6000 card.

Thanks for the input. We’re still using a Media 100i (7.5), and have a client who had some footage shot with the Canon XL2 in 24p. I told him we could shoot the additional footage he needs with our new Sony Z1 in one of the Cineframe modes and in DV mode (not HDV), and the footage should blend well (and I wouldn’t have to spring for a new system). Does this sound reasonable? I just got the new camera and don’t know its settings very well, but if I’m doing standard def and DV, the footage ought to come into the Media 100 just fine at 29.97, right?

Michael, which Convergent Design product are you using, coupled with which version of Media 100?
