Flash supports only a very, very small number of AE features, check the AE help for a complete listing. If you want to an accurate reporoduction of your comp, you can check “render non-vector elements” (or something like that, don’t have AE in front of me now) when you export, but you should then expect a huge Flash file which is probably not what you’re after. This feature renders as an image any element that is not natively supported by Flash.

Wow. A solution, AND the reassurance of so many other people who want this functionality. Who could ask for more? 🙂

    Thanks!

Oh, I missed the part about Photoshop, sorry. I am not sure, but I don’t think it’s supposed to work. The text animation presets rely on the range selectors etc. which, as far as I know, work only on AE text.

Are you able to drag and drop anything else? Try dragging something from the project window to the timeline. If that doesn’t work, welcome to the club – for me, and for many others AFAIK, drag-and-drop in AE works for X number of times and then ceases to work completely. Only known workaround is to restart the program.

This is the one thing about AE that drives me absolutely crazy. If anyone has any information on this bug I’ll be more than happy to hear it.

Beware of spelling mistakes! You have “Whit” in one of the “Latest Work” items, “Spoutnik” is spelled “Spoutnick” in several places, and you have “walk-trough” in the ShoWeaver video. Do not underestimate this, it could be ruinous with many potential clients.

IMHO, the fire transition is overused. It’s too large and long. Consider using it once, in the beginning, and that’s it.

The smaller font is very difficult to read. I think it also has to do with the tracking – it’s very dense.

Overall nice site and good work though. I like the hand-written font you use in headings, which one is it? Looks very familiar…

  • If you want to actually import 3D models, you’ll need 3D Invigorator Pro by Zaxwerks. Note that you need the Pro version. AE itself cannot handle 3D objects.

I believe the usual workflow is to model, animate and render in Blender (or whatever other 3D software you use) and use AE for final 2D compositing. Blender is a great software, but like all 3D apps it requires serious investment in learning how to use it.

A mid-level between those options is to import cameras and lights from the 3D software into AE, relying on AE’s “2.5D” capabilities (navigation in 3D space without actually working with 3D objects). This could be tricky with Blender. It is commonly stated that Cinema4D has the best integration with AE in this respect.

    Hope this helps,

Yes, I’ll be curious to find a current definition of “sufficiently different”. I’ll keep looking, thanks for helping.

Thanks. I found this on their FAQ section:

“HFA no longer issues synchronization (or synch) licenses for the use of music in advertising, movies, music videos, and TV programs”

so I’m not sure if they actually deal with what I need, but it’s a good source of information anyway.
