Exactly what I’m thinking… Gotta make a good impression 😉

Hey Kevin,
That’s great data, it makes a lot of sense – thanks!

Hmmmm… Not sure what you’re running into, but I’ll admit that I’ve only used that plug-in once.

Hey Walter,
Got it on OS and RAM.
On your SSD – are you really using 240gb? I know CS6 will use everything you give it, but do you think it’s necessary? I’ve been looking at about 128gb.
Also, and I know this is pretty subjective, how great is the speed difference? I know you said that you don’t have any benchmarks – but how does it feel?

Hey Dave,
Wow, sure is a fair amount! I’ve been surviving/struggling with 3gb for about 2 years now 😉
Agreed on Windows 7, but these stations are only to hold me over for about 6 months so I was hoping I wouldn’t need to get into buying things that aren’t vitally needed.

Thanks Tom, but it’s my understanding that these are the minimum requirements. I’m just curious about what people think are acceptable standards in their stations (what has worked well for them).

Yeah, sounds about right…

I’d probably just do it manually as your camera was handheld (and thus not so easy to track). You could use this plug-in: https://aescripts.com/pt_framerestorer/. All you’d have to do is go in and put a marker everywhere you are running into issues, then the script will create a new frame for each marker.
It might work to change warp stabilizer from “subspace warp” to “position.” What this does is keep it from trying to do crazy, complicated warps and instead just moves it up, down, left or right and nothing else.

Hey Evan,
I assume that the green screen is being moved by those people? 3D Camera Tracking is a very delicate process and it is really a shame that Adobe doesn’t give you more control…
Anyway, what I suggest you do is mask out anything which is moving in the shot (ie the people, and the green screen). In order for the plug-in to figure out what is the camera motion, it needs to not be confused by things that aren’t perfectly still in the physical world – usually it can figure this out for itself, but in your case seems like it can’t quite do it…
In other words it is watching your green screen move and thinks, “Oh my god, the whole world is moving this way – so I must be moving in the opposite direction.” and that is what is throwing off your track (that’s my guess, anyway). So by removing the confusing element the solver can go “Oh, it’s actually moving that way… I see.”

Okay I have another question as well – what do you guys recommend as far as how much RAM to install? I think I remember somewhere hearing “Xgb of ram per core.”
