  • Shoot went great last night. The 24p just looks a bit blurred (slow motion actually) – almost like your shooting at 30p frame rate with the XL1s. To me – this looks NOTHING like the motions of a true film stock – but it is a cool little video effect if you want to mix in some funky shots with some other more standard shots. It is most noticeable with moving action shots.

My question was more concerned with editing the mixed format timeline and having to render or do a pulldown – but there is no need to do a pulldown on the 24p stuff since it is already done in camera.

This is exactly when Midi device control of keyframe parameters and speed effects – from inside FCP – would be fantastic. You hook up a midid control surface via USB to your computer – assign whatever feects to your control knobs from inside FCP – and then play your timeline and mix your visuals in real time.

Motion 2 has this – as do all of the soundtrack and audio aps — but it would be cool to have it available in FCP as well. Speed ramping to music and feeling it out in real time instead of keyframing it and tweaking by hand is the future.

I just bought DVDxDV Pro based on the last post. Hot damn that is a cool little app!!! This will cut my digitizing time on client projects in HALF. A rare find for $80.

Thanks!! Editing on FCP since 1.5 and still – I learn something new here at the Cow every day.

Why not just bypass all that and play your DVD through whatever firewire device you have into FCP?
